Material and Delivery Clerk

Job Description Summary

The position of FIP Material and Delivery Clerk encompasses a broad range of responsibilities to support construction projects.  The primary responsibility is to coordinate and delivery construction materials, equipment and supplies to jobsites as required.  The position also includes responsibilities of general cleaning, project logistical support and light carpentry.   The Material and Delivery Clerk generally reports to FIP’s shop daily, however could also report to and/or be assigned to work on a single or multiple construction sites.  The clerk is assigned and works under the direction of a supervisor, primarily FIP’s Shop Manager, however the clerk would also receive direction from FIP’s Project Superintendents.    

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drive trucks carrying materials, supplies and equipment to/from warehouse and/or supply shops to sites
  • Load and unload equipment from trucks
  • Operate forklifts to transport materials and equipment from one place to another on a construction site
  • Clean and maintain construction equipment appropriately
  • Prepare sites to ensure maximum optimization of construction work procedures
  • Clean debris, trash and other materials from construction sites
  • Dig trenches and pour concrete as instructed
  • Erect temporary structures and scaffolding
  • Place traffic signs to warn traffic of construction in process
  • Perform roadside maintenance tasks such as trimming trees and clearing shrubs
  • Fill potholes to facilitate the construction process
  • Ensure that all work is being done in compliance with the company’s protocols
  • Use hand tools to cut and shape material as per instructions.
  • Function in accordance with established standards, procedures and applicable laws

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must have a valid drivers license. 
  • Must own and transport your own hand tools (hammer, tape, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.)
  • Must be able to lift and move construction materials that weigh up to 80 lbs.
  • Must be able to work at heights of up to 30’ on ladders or scaffold
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow, sleet, etc.
  • Must be dependable and punctual
  • Team player who works well with others
  • High School Diploma and/or similar experience is preferred
